Earth Sciences & Environment
The spectacular increase in the world’s population, coupled with the industrial and economic development of our societies, has resulted in exponential consumption of our planet’s natural resources over the last few decades. Over and above a more rational use of these resources, their increasing scarcity implies new societal challenges to which scientific research in earth and environmental sciences at Mines Paris – PSL is providing industrially innovative, high-performance solutions.

The work carried out by the research centers of the Earth and Environmental Sciences department focuses in particular on :
- the supply of water, mineral and energy resources;
- sustainable use of the subsoil;
- the environmental impact of human activities and climate change;
2 units on the Fontainebleau campus are affiliated with this department, headed by Vincent Lagneau:
The Geosciences Centre
It brings together around a hundred scientists covering most of the Earth and Environmental Sciences disciplines.
Its training and research missions are applied to the understanding, exploitation and management of the subsoil, from the development of resources to the study of the impact of human activities on the objects of the soil and subsoil with a view to sustainable development.
ISIGE
The Institut supérieur d’ingénierie et de gestion de l’environnement is dedicated to the environment and sustainable development. Its ambition is to be a driving force in the ecological transition and to promote demanding environmental innovation.
