Governance
Mines Paris – PSL (École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris) is a public scientific, cultural and professional establishment, in the form of a grand établissement, as defined in article L. 717-1 of the French Education Code.
The Board of Directors
Under the supervision of the Minister for Industry, Mines Paris-PSL is headed by a Managing Director and administered by a Board of Directors.
Executive management
Godefroy Beauvallet appointed General Manager on August 5, 2024.
The Managing Director is assisted in the performance of his duties by Delegate Directors, placed under his direct authority. He proposes to the Ministry the appointment of the Delegate Directors and the duration of their term of office.
The Scientific Advisory Board
Since 2017, the Scientific Advisory Board has informed the Board’s decisions on scientific priorities, human resources management and the prioritization of scientific investments.
The Research and Education Council
The Research and Education Council’s areas of competence are specified in Chapter 4 of the Internal Regulations, in application of Article 15 of Decree no. 91-1033 of October 8, 1991.
- research policy guidelines;
- framework agreements with research organizations, reports on laboratory research activities and development initiatives;
- the general orientation of initial and continuing education ;
- applications for accreditation to award national diplomas and the evaluation of teaching;
- issues relating to research and teaching staff, which are reported to the Board of Directors.
The Research and Education Council is composed in accordance with the provisions of article 15 I of decree n°91-1033.
It is made up of :
- 8 Mines Paris-PSL representatives appointed by the Managing Director, including himself, the directors in charge of Research and of Education, and one Research center director per department, proposed by the department, for a 4-year term;
- 8 external personalities, with gender equal representation, appointed by the Board of Directors for 4-year terms, renewable once.
- 10 elected representatives of research and teaching staff elected in accordance with the provisions of article 1 of chapter 5 of the Internal Regulations, with a 4-year term of office:
- 4 seats in the College of professors and similar staff;
- 4 seats in the College of Assistant Professors and similar staff;
- 2 seats for other staff;
- 4 representatives of the public, with a one-year term of office;
- 3 seats on the students College (civil engineer, master’s and specialized engineer);
- 1 seat on the Doctoral College.
