Governance
Mines Paris – PSL (École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris) is a public scientific, cultural and professional establishment, in the form of a grand établissement, as defined in article L. 717-1 of the French Education Code.
Board of Directors
Operating under the authority of the Minister of Industry, the institution is headed by a general director and governed by a board of directors.
Executive Management
Godefroy Beauvallet was appointed Chief Executive Officer on August 5, 2024.
The Chief Executive Officer is assisted in the performance of his duties by deputy directors, who report directly to him. He submits to the Ministry the nominations of the deputy directors as well as the length of their terms.
Scientific Advisory Board
Since 2017, the Scientific Advisory Board has provided guidance to the Board of Directors on scientific priorities, human resources management, and the prioritization of scientific investments.
Council for Research and Education (CRE)
The CRE’s areas of responsibility include:
- Research policy guidelines.
- Framework agreements with research organizations, reviews of laboratory research activities, and commercialization initiatives.
- The general direction of undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as the academic regulations for each level and the work of the academic or advisory committees associated with each level, for which it prepares a summary.
- Applications for accreditation to award national degrees and the evaluation of courses.
- Issues related to research and teaching staff, which are reported to the Board of Trustees.
The Research and Teaching Council (CRE) is composed in accordance with the provisions of Article 15 I of Decree No. 91-1033. It consists of:
- 8 school officials appointed by the Director General, including the Director General, the directors in charge of research and teaching, and one center director per department (nominated by the department), for a four-year term;
- 8 external members, ensuring gender parity, appointed by the Board of Directors, for four-year terms, renewable once.
- 10 representatives of research and teaching staff elected in accordance with the provisions of Article 1 of Chapter 5 of the Internal Regulations; their term of office is 4 years:
- 4 seats in the College of Professors and Equivalents;
- 4 seats in the College of Assistant Professors and Equivalents;
- 2 seats in the College of Other Staff;
- 4 user representatives elected in accordance with the provisions of Article 2 of Chapter 5 of these regulations; their term of office is one year;
- 3 seats on the College of Engineering, Master’s, and Specialized Program Students;
- 1 seat on the College of Doctoral Students.
