Carnot M.I.N.E.S, of which Mines Paris – PSL is a member, announces the release of its white paper entitled “Produce, Store and Use Hydrogen”, the fruit of scientific advances made in the emblematic HyTREND project.

This ambitious three-year project, coordinated by the PERSEE center at Mines Paris – PSL, mobilized the R&D expertise and training activities of 13 research centers from eight Carnot M.I.N.E.S. member schools.

H2MINES & HyTREND

Thanks to the efforts of the H2MINES group, Carnot M.I.N.E.S has established itself as a major player in innovation in the field of hydrogen, an essential energy for decarbonizing industry and transport. In response to the needs of their public and private partners, the research centers draw on multidisciplinary and complementary skills, covering fields such as process engineering, energy efficiency, geosciences, materials, economics and Life Cycle Analysis.

The HyTREND project, or “Hydrogen for a decarbonized energy transition”, was completed in 2023. Its main objective was to scientifically structure the hydrogen-energy value chain. It combined research skills in technological challenges (production, storage, distribution, uses) with expertise in sustainable development. The results of this work are now synthesized in the white paper “Produire, Stocker et utiliser l’hydrogène” (Produce, Store and Use Hydrogen) with the Carnot M.I.N.E.S. research centers.

This white paper, produced in partnership with Dowel Innovation, a specialist energy consultancy, illustrates Carnot M.I.N.E.S’ commitment to research users. It complements publications and conferences by researchers, as well as exchange days with industrial partners. The book presents stakeholders in the industry with the subjects studied by the research teams and the solutions proposed to meet the technological, economic and national sovereignty challenges linked to the development of hydrogen.

Based on scientific productions, interviews and collective workshops, this book presents the most significant results and offers perspectives. Dowel Innovation’s experts orchestrated the gathering and structuring of information to extract the most relevant elements.

The white paper was unveiled at Mines Paris Research Day 2024. It is now available to all players in the hydrogen industry, marking a new stage in the dissemination of Carnot M.I.N.E.S. research.

This publication aims to encourage energy players to contact the teams behind the results in order to launch new collaborative research partnerships, and invites them to join Carnot M.I.N.E.S in building an innovative and sustainable hydrogen industry.
