Terrace and garden

Overlooking the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Terrace and Garden reveal both the elegance of an 18th-century town house and the unsuspected traces of a recently rediscovered ancient past.

Description

The Terrasse et le Jardin offers an uninterrupted view of the Jardin du Luxembourg and the buildings of the École. From here, you can admire the façade of the 18th-century town house, designed by Jean-Baptiste Leblond for the Duchesse de Vendôme, and crowned with the ducal crown.

The terrace above the most recent part of the building, dating from the 19th century, also hides a wealth of historical treasures. In 2023, archaeological digs unearthed the remains of a 1st-century forge, proving that the site was already a centre of activity in ancient times.
