Cyanotypes and the golden ratio: between art and science
Create your own cyanotype and draw the perfect egg using the magic of mathematics and UV light.
Discover a double workshop combining art, science and creativity. First, you’ll delve into the fascinating world of cyanotypes, an ancient photographic technique that uses UV light to produce deep blue images. Bring along small objects to create your own cyanotype using a UV insolator, and leave with a unique work of art. Next, be inspired by mathematics as you learn to use the golden ratio to draw the perfect egg. Combining geometry and aesthetics, this workshop will help you understand how this number influences art, and leave with a mathematically balanced creation.
The quantum nature of light – illuminating experiments
Discover the world of light and quantum physics through four interactive experiments.
Using lasers, prisms and other scientific instruments, explore the strange and captivating properties of light. Enhanced by videos from the CNRS, this workshop offers a unique immersion in scientific research. Whether you’re a science enthusiast or simply curious, come and discover the hidden beauty of light!
Remote-controlled robot: take control and win the race!
Would you like to take control of a robot and take part in a race?
This workshop lets you pilot a robot through an obstacle course. Test your driving skills against other participants to see who can finish the circuit first. A fun, interactive activity for all robotics fans!
Immersive virtual reality experience
Come and enjoy an extraordinary experience thanks to virtual reality!
Whether you’re a VR novice or expert, this workshop will enable you to discover the vast potential of this technology.
Robotics sumo bot: fight with your robots
PSL University Science Village, Saturday October 12. 1pm to 6pm, rue Erasme, 75005
A science village will bring together PSL establishments on rue Erasme. Researchers and doctoral students from several establishments, including Mines Paris – PSL, ESPCI – PSL, Chimie Paris – PSL, ENS – PSL and ENSAD – PSL, will be sharing their passion and know-how. Come and explore today’s most exciting research projects through fun and interactive activities: robotics, experimental sciences, computer science, anthropology, physics, and much more!
Mines Paris – PSL, at the PSL University Science Village, offers the workshop “Robotics sumo bot: fight with your robots”.
Take part in robotic battles with Sumo Bots! In this fun workshop, you’ll learn how to control and program dueling robots. Come and face your friends in an arena specially designed for epic battles where only the strongest robots will survive. A fun and educational introduction to robotics. Ready to take up the challenge?
Fête de la science on our Fontainebleau and Sophia Antipolis campuses
October 10 to 12 – Bibliothèque Mines Paris- PSL, 38 Rue Saint-Honoré 77300 Fontainebleau, France
“What happens to a river when it meets the ocean?” in Fontainebleau Mines Paris -PSL is offering workshops to illustrate, via a model in an aquarium, rock samples and fossils, these sedimentary transfers from the river mouth to the ocean floor. These workshops will be led by Damien Huyghes and Louison Mercier from the Geology team at the Centre de Géosciences de Mines Paris – PSL.
October 13 – Centre de Mathématiques Appliquées (CMA) de Mines Paris – PSL / Campus Pierre Laffitte, 1 rue Claude Daunesse, 06904 Sophia-Antipolis
“Water and energy at the heart of climate action”, a day proposed by the CMA to discover the Energy-Climate issues associated with the question of water and to better understand the challenges to be met. Games, digital applications, quizzes and demonstrations by Sandrine Selosse, Sophie Chlela and Marie Codet from the Centre de Mathématiques Appliquées de Mines Paris – PSL.
Our PSL university celebrates science from October 4 to 14
Experimental sciences, humanities and social sciences, economics, law… all areas of research from the university’s 140 laboratories are at the heart of a rich program aimed at a wide audience. From the youngest pupils to students, including public stakeholders and high school students, scientific mediation activities, debates and conferences will be offered at various points on the campus and in the heart of Paris.
