University 2024: combining mitigation and adaptation, a health issue
Lab Recherche Environnement invites you to its University 2024 conference: combining mitigation and adaptation, a health issue on Thursday 19 December 2024.
Climate change is affecting not only the viability of our cities but also the health of our populations. Combining mitigation and adaptation strategies is essential to ensure that cities and infrastructures are sustainable and resilient in the face of climatic events (flooding, heat waves, etc.).
How can we limit greenhouse gas emissions while adapting living spaces to climatic phenomena whose increasingly frequent and intense episodes increase the risks to health?
On the programme for this conference are cross-fertilisations between scientists and VINCI Group companies:
- Impact of heat waves and overheating in buildings :
- Charlotte Roux and Robin Monnier, Ecole des Mines Paris-PSL
- Nicolas Steunou and Rabiha Tlich, VINCI Energies
- Microclimate and urban greening :
- Erwan Personne and Patrick Stella, AgroParisTech
- Nicolas Hiroux and Pierre Monlucq, VINCI Construction
- Soft mobility and resilience of motorway infrastructures :
- Nicolas Coulombel, Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, France
- Christophe Hug, VINCI Autoroutes
This meeting will provide an opportunity to explore together the results of research into how climate and health issues can be taken into account in construction and town and country planning, and to discuss practical solutions deployed in the field.
The morning session will conclude with a speech by Xavier Huillard, Chairman and CEO of VINCI.
The conference will be followed by a cocktail reception.
Key witnesses
We will also be honoured to welcome two key speakers who will be sharing their views on the interplay between climate and health: Valérie Masson Delmotte, palaeoclimatologist and director of research at the CEA, member of the High Council for Climate and the National Consultative Ethics Committee, and Rémy Slama, director of research at Inserm, environmental epidemiologist and specialist in climate and health issues.
We look forward to seeing you at this event. Please feel free to share this event with anyone in your network who might be interested.
