[Soirée Conférence & Débats] Double-impact science-industry relations
On January 29, 2025, the Institut Bauhaus des Transitions is organizing an evening conference and debate from 6pm to 8pm at Mines Paris – PSL.
On January 29, 2025, Mines Paris – PSL, as part of the Bauhaus Institute for Transitions, is organizing an evening conference and debate dedicated to managing relations between science and industry, around the concept of “double impact”: an approach in which scientific discoveries and disruptive innovations can mutually enrich each other.
This meeting is organized on the occasion of the publication of Science et industrie à l’aune du double impact (Presses des Mines), co-authored by Q. Plantec, P. Le Masson and B. Le Masson. Plantec, P. Le Masson and B. Weil.
While history is full of emblematic examples of successful synergies between these two worlds – from Pasteur’s work to that of Bell Labs, or more recently from the discovery of giant magnetoresistance to CRISPR-Cas9 – current forms of science-industry collaboration are also often questioned.
How can we reinvent these interactions to meet contemporary challenges? What models can be used both to explore fundamental knowledge and to develop concrete solutions for current transitions?
With a talk by Dr. Marko Erman, Scientific Director of the Thalès Group, and the participation of players from the academic, industrial and institutional worlds, this evening aims to better understand how to institutionalize mutually beneficial approaches between these two ecosystems.
