The University of Paris Sciences & Letters is joining forces with the Academy of Sciences and reaffirming its commitment to vulnerable scientists.

Since the election and subsequent inauguration of Donald Trump, the American scientific community has been confronted with drastic measures – budget cuts, researcher layoffs, and the elimination of key programs – that compromise freedom of research and international cooperation.
In response to the Trump administration’s recent decisions, the French Academy of Sciences and the “Stand Up for Science France” movement are calling on the scientific community to denounce these threats and mobilize. As a research-intensive university, PSL is joining this movement and reaffirming its commitment to academic freedom and scientific dialogue at the international level.
Essential to the understanding of the world, science is based on the fundamental principles of freedom, integrity and cooperation, which guarantee its positive impact on our societies. Jeopardizing these principles weakens our collective ability to face the major contemporary challenges.
Echoing the call of the Academy of Sciences and in support of the “Stand Up for Science France” initiative, PSL University invites its scientific communities to actively seek ways to maintain ongoing scientific collaborations and to express their support on the occasion of the movement on March 7, 2025.
