A campus dedicated to research and transition

The result of close collaboration between Mines Paris – PSL and the Department of Yvelines, this new campus marks a key milestone in the School’s development. Located at 21 allée des Marronniers in Versailles, the 15,000 m² building, designed by Celnikier & Grabli Architects, offers state-of-the-art infrastructure designed to promote synergy between disciplines and actors in the socio-economic world.

The site brings together three strategic research centers in one location:

  • the Materials Center (CMAT)
  • the Center for Energy Efficiency of Systems (CEEP)
  • the Robotics Center (CAOR)

This concentration of expertise opens up new opportunities for collaboration in crucial fields: advanced materials, energy, robotics, future mobility, and complex systems.

An open, sustainable, and collaborative space

More than just a building, the campus is designed as a place for researchers, students, manufacturers, and start-ups to meet and exchange ideas.

With 3,000 m² of shared spaces (a 150-seat amphitheater, conference and training rooms, modular platforms, and social areas), it encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and the emergence of projects with a strong scientific, technological, and societal impact.

The site is also exemplary in environmental terms. Certified as a “Positive Energy and Carbon Reduction Building” (E2C1) and a “Sustainable Building in the Paris Region,” it illustrates Mines Paris – PSL’s commitment to responsible, low-carbon research in support of the energy and ecological transitions.

A strategic lever for research, training, and innovation

With a capacity of nearly 250 people, including 150 permanent students and doctoral candidates, the campus is becoming a veritable testing ground and training center. It offers engineering students a high-level scientific environment that is directly connected to industrial realities and contemporary environmental challenges.

This project is in line with the school’s history and strategy: from Paris to Fontainebleau, from Sophia Antipolis to Versailles-Satory, Mines Paris – PSL continues to develop at major innovation sites, in connection with the regions.

The Versailles-Satory campus will also strengthen historic industrial partnerships and develop new collaborations with the academic and entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Paris region, particularly in the defense, future mobility, and dual technologies sectors.

A strong commitment to local communities and society

The campus is part of Mines Paris – PSL’s social responsibility policy. Its presence in the Yvelines department helps to amplify actions promoting equal opportunities, diversity, and scientific mediation.

Collaborations are already underway with local middle and high schools, as well as with deep tech start-ups that have emerged from the School’s centers.

Finally, located in the heart of the new Versailles-Satory nature-city district, this campus is actively participating in the Greater Paris innovation dynamic. It will contribute to promoting French research and training in the service of a more sustainable and enlightened society.

A look back at the inauguration

The inauguration of the Mines Paris – PSL Innovation Campus was attended by numerous institutional, academic, and industrial figures. After welcoming remarks by Pierre Bédier, President of the Yvelines Department, and Godefroy Beauvallet, Director General of Mines Paris – PSL, guests were given a guided tour of the laboratories and technology platforms to explore the new site.

A highlight of the morning was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the unveiling of a plaque by a robotic arm designed by a doctoral student at the Robotics Center, symbolizing the spirit of innovation that drives this new campus.

The ceremony concluded with the signing of a partnership agreement between Mines Paris – PSL and the Yvelines Department, sealing a lasting collaboration in the service of scientific and economic development in the region. A convivial cocktail reception then brought the participants together to discuss new prospects for cooperation and shared research.
