Mechanics & Materials Option: three questions for engineering students
In this video, Lora, Quentin, and Matias share their experiences in their third year at Mines Paris – PSL. They explain what they gained from industrial visits: discovering a variety of sectors (energy, health, luxury goods, sports, environment) and gaining a concrete understanding of the challenges of decarbonization and innovation in materials.
They also discuss the mini-project immersion, a unique feature of the program. For one week, students work on a real-world industrial problem. One of them mentions a project carried out at the CEA, dedicated to studying the aging of solar panel backsheets, supervised by engineers and researchers.
Finally, they emphasize the importance of personalized support: close contact with teachers, interviews dedicated to building a career plan, and access to a network of researchers and industrialists. This structured support is particularly valuable for students in specialized tracks.
