Confirmation of the IdEx PSL

The announcement was made on 5 November 2020 by Frédérique Vidal, Minister for Education, Research and Innovation, and Guillaume Boudy, Secretary General for Investment: PSL has received confirmation of its IdEx (initiative for excellence) status. Highlighting the excellence of our University’s research and training, the international jury hailed its commitment to building a new model of university that brings together grandes écoles and universities.
The aim of the Initiative of Excellence programme is to contribute, through substantial investment, to the creation of world-class French universities, illustrating the attractiveness and excellence of French higher education.
This is excellent news, marking a decisive step in the construction of our University and the implementation of our school’s strategy. I am delighted that we now have the opportunity to devote more time to developing new research and teaching projects with the other components of PSL.

The PSL project began 10 years ago on Mont Sainte-Geneviève, with a handful of institutions, under the impetus of Monique Canto-Sperber, then Director of the ENS Ulm. The PSL institutions came together with a common scientific and educational project, and with a view to international influence.
