Go abroad

Mines Paris – PSL places international engagement at the core of its academic programs. The School relies on a network of around one hundred partner universities worldwide and offers a variety of mobility formats: academic semesters, double degrees, internships, gap years, and short-term experiences.
These pathways allow students to develop scientific, linguistic, and intercultural skills in diverse academic and professional environments within internationally recognized institutions.

Erasmus+ mobility

European mobility and associated financial support

The Erasmus+ program enables students to undertake academic exchanges or internships at numerous institutions across Europe and selected partner countries. It is part of a broader framework of European academic cooperation and supports the recognition of international study paths. Financial support is provided, with amounts varying depending on the destination country and the nature of the stay.

The program also includes priorities related to inclusion and diversity, as well as measures encouraging sustainable mobility. Additional support mechanisms are available for eligible students to promote equal opportunities.

Academic semester abroad

Studying at a partner university and broadening academic pathways

The semester abroad is a key component of the curriculum. More than half of engineering students complete an academic mobility period during their studies. Exchanges are available with nearly one hundred partner institutions in Europe and worldwide, including leading universities such as the National University of Singapore, the University of Tokyo, ETH Zurich, and the University of Hong Kong.

These semesters allow students to follow courses in a different academic system, explore complementary specializations, and develop dual expertise in an international context.

Engineering cycle

International mobility is typically carried out during the second year and is an integral part of the academic curriculum.

International double degrees

Dual academic recognition with partner universities

Mines Paris – PSL offers nearly 40 double degree agreements with international partner universities.

Usually completed during a gap year, these programs allow students to obtain both the degree of Mines Paris – PSL and that of the partner institution. They provide a long-term academic immersion and advanced specialization in an international environment.

Internships and gap year abroad

Professional and research experiences overseas

International professional experience is a major pillar of the School’s global outlook. Students can complete internships in companies or research laboratories abroad, in a wide range of environments (large corporations, startups, research centers).

The engineering program also includes the option of a gap year between the second and third years, allowing students to diversify their experiences and explore different sectors, in France or abroad. These experiences help shape career paths and strengthen adaptability.

ATHENS program

Short academic immersion in European universities

Mines Paris – PSL is a member of the ATHENS network (Advanced Technology Higher Education Network). This program allows students to attend one-week courses at a European partner university and experience a different academic environment.

Organized twice a year, these sessions provide an initial exposure to international higher education in high-level scientific fields.

EELISA opportunities

A European network for diversified academic experiences

Mines Paris – PSL is a member, through Université PSL, of the EELISA European alliance (European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance), which brings together several partner universities across Europe. Within this framework, academic mobility opportunities may be offered in various formats, including study semesters, summer schools, and international modules.

Scholarships and financial aid

Support mechanisms for international mobility

Several funding schemes support international mobility to facilitate access to these experiences.

Erasmus+ grant

The Erasmus+ program provides financial support for mobility within Europe. Amounts depend on the destination country and type of mobility. Allocation is partly based on social criteria, within a context of limited funding.

Fondation Mines Paris scholarships

The Fondation Mines Paris supports academic and research mobility abroad, particularly outside Europe, for short-term stays.

FITEC programs

Within international cooperation frameworks led by the Conference of French Engineering Schools (CDEFI), mobility grants may be available, including through the BRAFITEC and ARFITEC programs.

Île-de-France regional grants

The Île-de-France region may offer additional funding schemes for international mobility. Eligibility criteria are defined by the regional authority and complement other existing funding sources.

Other funding sources

Depending on the destination, additional scholarships or grants may be offered by national organizations, partner governments, or host institutions. These may include programs such as CSC (China), MEXT/JASSO or VULCANUS (Japan), Fulbright (United States), or DAAD (Germany), as well as certain loan schemes linked to European programs such as Erasmus+.
