Biography

Yves-Marie Saint-Drenan is a researcher specializing in solar energy and the modeling of renewable energy resources. His work focuses primarily on improving methods for forecasting and evaluating solar and wind resources, as well as on their integration into energy systems. He has contributed to the development of innovative models, such as the use of extreme learning machines (ELM) for short-term forecasting of variables related to power grids, particularly in island contexts such as Corsica. His research also addresses the validation and optimization of satellite data for estimating solar radiation, integrating statistical and physical approaches to improve model accuracy. Yves-Marie Saint-Drenan also explores the impacts of atmospheric conditions—such as aerosols and clouds—on photovoltaic energy production, as well as spectral transposition methods for specific applications such as agrivoltaics. His work is part of an effort to enhance the reliability and efficiency of carbon-free energy systems.
