Biography
Morgan Meyer is a researcher whose work lies at the intersection of the social sciences, science and technology studies (STS), and contemporary issues related to biotechnology. His research explores the dynamics of the production, regulation, and reception of scientific innovations, with a particular focus on the boundaries between technical expertise, societal issues, and public debates. His recent work analyzes the evolution of scientific practices, particularly in the fields of genome editing (such as CRISPR/Cas9), participatory biotechnology (DIYbio), and low-tech approaches, highlighting the reconfigurations of knowledge, spaces, and the actors involved. Meyer also examines scientific controversies, such as that surrounding genetically modified babies, by studying the mechanisms through which research is evaluated, legitimized, and politicized, as well as the interactions between scientific communities, the media, and the public sphere. Her approach combines quantitative (scientometrics, lexicometrics) and qualitative methods to capture the temporalities, geographies, and discursive frameworks of scientific and technological debates.
