Biography
Lionel Ménard is a researcher specializing in Earth observation (EO) and renewable energy, with significant expertise in the design of services and platforms based on geospatial data. His work focuses on integrating EO data into operational tools designed to meet the needs of end users, particularly local governments and stakeholders in the energy sector. He explores co-design methods to balance the contextualization of platforms with their general applicability, drawing on theoretical frameworks such as *data-use fit systems* and qualitative case studies. His research also addresses the definition of key variables for renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, and marine), adopting a bottom-up, stakeholder-centered approach. In addition, he contributes to the development of interactive and interoperable tools, such as ENVI-PV and the Global Solar and Wind Atlas, which facilitate the assessment of the environmental and technical performance of energy systems on a global scale.
