Biography
Daniel Herrera is a researcher whose work focuses on the economic evaluation of health, safety, and market regulation policies. His research focuses in particular on estimating the statistical value of life (SVL) and the statistical value per case (SVC), exploring methodological biases related to stated preferences and variations in non-marginal risks. He also analyzes the impact of factors such as age, baseline health status, and socioeconomic inequalities on these estimates, drawing on empirical data from population cohorts and surveys. Furthermore, his work addresses the segmentation of hospital markets, examining competitive dynamics between the public and private sectors, as well as the effects of pricing regulations on service quality and patient choices. Another aspect of his research concerns the monetization of health benefits associated with interventions against zoonotic diseases, proposing methods to incorporate gains in disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) into cost-benefit analyses.
