Biography

Ambre Elsas Nicolle is a researcher whose work focuses on competitive dynamics within digital platform ecosystems. Her research analyzes the impact of a rival platform’s entry on the strategies of complementary actors, focusing in particular on the trade-offs between indirect network effects and the intensity of intra-platform competition. Through her study of the PC video game market—marked by the arrival of Epic Games as a competitor to Steam—she highlights varied reactions among developers, linked to their strategic resources and their dependence on network effects. Her analyses highlight how these mechanisms influence multihoming behavior and responsiveness to coordinated initiatives by established platforms. Her contributions shed light on the managerial and theoretical challenges of platform governance in competitive environments.
