Biography

Alexis Paljic is a researcher whose work lies at the intersection of cognitive science, computer graphics, and immersive technologies, with a strong focus on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). His research explores the mechanisms of motor and sensorimotor adaptation in humans, particularly through experimental protocols in controlled 3D environments, as demonstrated by his study on visuomotor adaptation and the distinction between trajectory realignment and reorientation. At the same time, he contributes to advances in differentiable volumetric rendering and image synthesis, with applications in real-time rendering and scene reconstruction from visual data, as demonstrated by his work on the integration of spherical Gaussian functions for photorealistic rendering. His research also includes the use of immersive technologies in applied contexts, such as indoor navigation using magnetometry, the assessment of VR/AR exposure in the general population, and the impact of these technologies on situational awareness and the learning of complex procedures. His methodological contributions—such as adapting open-source tools for creating VR content or evaluating the effectiveness of AR interfaces for training—reflect a multidisciplinary approach aimed at balancing technical performance with ergonomic relevance.
