Du 13 au 15 March

As they have done every year for the past 4 years, a team of third-year civil engineering students from Mines Paris – PSL volunteered to organize the last course of their year, in the form of a 3-day seminar dedicated to “Engineers and Transitions”.

The “Ecological Transition and Social Justice” seminar will be held from March 13 to 15, 2024, and will take place entirely at Mines Paris – PSL, in the Henri Poincaré amphitheater (room L108).

The seminar alternates between lectures and round-table discussions on themes such as the social impacts of climate change and the policies put in place to counter it, the notion of responsibility and the fair distribution of efforts in the fight against climate change, the social role of the engineer and models for rethinking social justice in the current context of transition.

The speakers, carefully selected for their expertise in a variety of fields, are delighted to be able to share their knowledge of these subjects with such a large audience, and to raise awareness of concepts not often covered in the civil engineering curriculum:

  • Quentin Perrier, expert on low-carbon transition issues.
“Climate change, ecological transition, social justice: the state of play”
  • Maxime Lambrecht, researcher in law and ethics.
“Sharing efforts and responsibilities for the climate”
  • Stéphanie Tchiombiano, PhD in political science, associate professor at Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne.
“Ecological transition and social justice: a focus on health”
  • Christelle Didier, Associate Professor at the University of Lille on professional ethics crossing engineering, education and social fields.
“Ecological transition, social justice: a biographical and socio-historical perspective on the role of engineers”
