Meeting with Pierre Delort
The Mines Paris – PSL library invites you to a meeting with Pierre Delort, author of Le Big Data (Big Data), published by Que sais-je ?, on Wednesday 4 June 2025 from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Digital technology permeates the world, and Big Data technologies are everywhere, integrating, processing and restoring information for all types of uses, including medical, commercial and research.
However, although the term is widely used and its practical applications in essential areas of our lives are obvious to everyone, its meaning often remains unclear.In this third, completely revised edition, Pierre Delort draws on his dual expertise in the field and in research to review the oldest concepts in the discipline and its most recent developments, particularly generative AI.
These emerging technologies are raising new questions for IT departments: how to support the development of a tool whose performance often comes at the expense of explainability, how to assist decision-making in businesses and government, and how to master these technologies. More than just an introduction to a concept, Pierre Delort provides a valuable and enlightening analytical framework by revisiting the key points of Big Data and comparing them with numerous examples.
Participants will be invited to a cocktail reception in the Espace Vendôme after the conference.
