Biography

Irina SIN is a researcher specializing in the modeling of coupled reactive transport and multiphase flow processes in porous media, with particular expertise in environmental and energy applications. Her work focuses in particular on the integration of radioactive decay into reactive transport models, the simulation of gas-water-rock interactions in geological reservoirs, and the numerical optimization of adjoint methods for saturated flow problems. She has contributed to the development of innovative methodologies, such as the modular approach for modeling radioactive decay chains and the assessment of aquifer resilience to the injection of biomethane and gas mixtures. Her research relies on advanced numerical tools, such as the HYTEC code, to study complex phenomena such as geological CO₂ sequestration, oxygen reactivity in underground reservoirs, and the chromatographic partitioning of gases in storage contexts. His approach combines experimental validation, numerical modeling, and analysis of geochemical and hydrodynamic mechanisms at various scales.
