Biography
Aurélien Portelli is a researcher specializing in the study of social and organizational representations related to industrial risks, particularly in the nuclear and maritime sectors. His work analyzes collective imaginaries, institutional dynamics, and mechanisms of legitimation through a variety of sources, such as documentaries, archives, crisis testimonies, and cultural productions (films, educational posters). His research focuses in particular on the construction of knowledge in emergency situations, as illustrated by his analyses of narratives surrounding the Fukushima Daiichi accident, in which he explores the tensions between technical expertise, public perceptions, and political decisions. At the same time, he is interested in the processes of risk rationalization, as evidenced by his studies on radiation protection education at the Marcoule nuclear center and on the use of archives for the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. His approach combines the history of technology, the sociology of organizations, and media analysis to shed light on the interactions between knowledge, practices, and representations.
