Biography

Justin Larouzee is a researcher whose work focuses on the analysis of industrial and organizational risks, as well as the study of human and systemic factors in disaster management. His research explores regulatory disparities in industrial safety on an international scale, highlighting the influence of political, economic, and cultural contexts on prevention practices. He is also interested in the evolution of theoretical models in safety, particularly James Reason’s *Swiss Cheese Model* (SCM), whose historical foundations, developments, and critiques he analyzes, while emphasizing its roots in the scientific debates of the 1980s and 1990s. Furthermore, his work includes historical case studies, such as the Malpasset dam failure, in which he examines the interplay between technical, organizational, and human factors in the occurrence of major accidents.
