Biographie
Vandad Julien Rohani est un chercheur spécialisé dans les procédés plasma et leurs applications en conversion énergétique et en science des matériaux. Ses travaux portent principalement sur la pyrolyse par plasma thermique pour la production d’hydrogène à faible empreinte carbone et la synthèse de matériaux carbonés à haute valeur ajoutée, tels que le noir de carbone, les nanotubes ou le graphène. Ses recherches explorent également l’influence des conditions opératoires (température, pression, nature des précurseurs hydrocarbonés) sur les rendements, la sélectivité et la morphologie des produits formés. Une partie de ses contributions concerne l’étude des mécanismes réactionnels en phase plasma, notamment les interactions plasma-molécules, la nucléation des particules et la croissance des structures carbonées. Ses travaux récents abordent aussi l’intégration de ces procédés dans des contextes industriels, en mettant l’accent sur l’optimisation énergétique, la stabilité des arcs et les critères de scale-up. Parallèlement, il s’intéresse aux applications environnementales des plasmas, comme le traitement des polluants gazeux (H₂S, COV) ou la valorisation du CO₂ et du CH₄ via des procédés plasma-catalytiques.
