Biographie
Mark Noble est un chercheur spécialisé en géophysique et imagerie sismique, dont les travaux se concentrent sur le développement de méthodes innovantes pour l’analyse des données sismiques et la caractérisation des milieux géologiques. Ses recherches abordent des thématiques variées, telles que la tomographie des temps de première arrivée, l’inversion des formes d’onde complètes (FWI), la modélisation des structures alluviales et fluviales, ou encore l’étude des séquences sismiques en contexte de rifting. Son expertise inclut également l’application de méthodes probabilistes et d’algorithmes d’optimisation globale, comme les algorithmes évolutionnaires ou les essaims particulaires, pour résoudre des problèmes non linéaires en géophysique. Les travaux de Mark Noble intègrent souvent des approches multidisciplinaires, combinant données sismiques, géodésiques et géologiques, afin d’améliorer la précision des modèles de subsurface et la compréhension des processus tectoniques et sédimentaires. Enseignements
Géophysique de la subsurface (stage)
L'enseignement se déroulera hors-murs pendant une semaine, essentiellement sur le terrain (dans la forêt de Fontainebleau, au Sud de Paris), puis en salle l’après-midi. Cours introductifs : notions fondamentales, méthodes de prospections, cas d'études (méthodes magnétiques, électriques, électro-magnétiques, sismiques); Terrain : acquisition de plusieurs types de données géophysiques, observations géologiques. TD : préparation des acquisitions, traitements, interprétation; La mise en œuvre expérimentale et le traitement des données seront réalisés par petits groupes. L'esprit d'initiative des élèves sera fortement sollicité sur le terrain, ainsi que pour la synthèse des résultats.
