Biographie
Andrea Michiorri est un chercheur spécialisé dans les systèmes électriques intelligents et la gestion optimisée des réseaux de transport et de distribution d’électricité. Ses travaux se concentrent sur l’intégration des énergies renouvelables, l’optimisation des infrastructures électriques sous contraintes climatiques et opérationnelles, ainsi que sur l’amélioration des modèles de prévision et de décision en temps réel. Ses recherches abordent notamment le *Dynamic Line Rating* (DLR), une méthode permettant d’ajuster dynamiquement la capacité des lignes électriques en fonction des conditions météorologiques, réduisant ainsi les congestions et les coûts d’infrastructure. Il explore également l’impact des facteurs socio-économiques et des événements externes sur la demande énergétique, en intégrant des techniques avancées comme le traitement automatique du langage naturel (NLP) pour affiner les prévisions. Son expertise s’étend à la modélisation des systèmes de stockage, à la participation des ressources énergétiques distribuées (DER) aux marchés de l’énergie et des services système, ainsi qu’à l’évaluation des effets du changement climatique sur les composants du réseau, comme les transformateurs.

Introduction to power system

Context: Electrical power systems are among the most important and complex infrastructures operated by mankind. Without a stable and reliable supply of electricity, basic services at the fundament of our societies could not take place. Despite operational practices and analysis methods for power grids are well established, the interest on power grids come to prominence again due to the increasing connection of stochastic renewable generation, that poses new challenges to grid operators. In this course, we will illustrate the main functionalities of power systems (generation, transmission, and distribution grids), their components (generators, transformers, lines) and provide students with the mathematical tools to analyse power grids (load flows and notion of optimal power flow). We will finally explore the operating principles of interconnected AC power grids (frequency and voltage control). The course will be followed through by laboratory sessions, where students will explore and apply what learnt in a suitable simulation environment.
