The Hôtel de Vendôme and its garden The École Supérieure des Mines de Paris has been located since 1815 in the Hôtel de Vendôme, dating from the very beginning of the 18th century and which was enlarged in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors can discover the Vendôme building and its garden overlooking the greenhouses of the Jardin de Luxembourg.
Access from the orchid greenhouses in the Jardin du Luxembourg will be possible (one-way).
The Library The reading room and its glass roof as well as the offices of the Bibliothèque de Mines Paris – PSL, decorated with period woodwork, open their doors on the occasion of these days.
A selection of works of art, ancient books, manuscripts and archival documents will be proposed throughout the course. The travel diaries of students from the 19th century and the travel stories of teachers and engineers who have marked the history of the school will be particularly honored.
In the wake of the Olympic Games, visitors will also be able to visit the archival exhibition “Snapshots of sport at school”: sports in all its forms, from links with education to sports competitions where students and staff have distinguished themselves.
The Museum of Mineralogy For more than 200 years, preserved in the setting of the Hôtel de Vendôme, the mineralogical collections of the Ecole des Mines de Paris are among the most complete and spectacular in the world. They contain some 100,000 samples, of which 4,000 are displayed: minerals, rocks, precious stones (including gems from the Crown Jewels of France), and meteorites are exhibited in an 80-meter gallery, with priceless historical and heritage cachet.
Students and employees of the School to answer your questions It is much more than its heritage that the Ecole Mines Paris – PSL opens for these days: punctuating the course, students and staff of the School will be there to answer your questions about this prestigious institution.
