Research
Research areas and contributions to a sustainable future.
At ISIGE Mines Paris-PSL, research and expertise play a central role in supporting ecological transition and societal change. Our work, carried out in collaboration with the academic world and economic stakeholders, aims to produce innovative knowledge that can be applied to major environmental challenges. Thanks to a multidisciplinary approach, researchers and experts explore a variety of topics such as the circular economy, resource management, and adaptation to climate change.

Research
ISIGE Mines Paris-PSL is a multidisciplinary center for environmental issues that combines expertise in engineering, social sciences, and natural sciences. To address the contemporary challenges facing our societies, whether they relate to urbanization, energy transitions, accelerating climate change, or industrial model transformations, ISIGE Mines Paris-PSL is committed to developing an analytical framework with a strong environmental focus.
Working closely with economic and institutional players, the center aims to contribute to the public debate on the changes needed in our societies to limit the anthropogenic (and material) footprint of our activities. It therefore conducts research and supports companies and regions on issues related to ecological and environmental transitions.
The multidisciplinary nature of the center and its members enables it to develop research covering a wide range of fields, from the eco-design of industrial products to public policy issues relating to the financing of urban infrastructure. The central role of training at ISIGE Mines Paris-PSL has also enabled the development of a specific research focus on issues relating to the pedagogy of transitions. The main areas of research and expertise are divided into three areas based on a systemic approach, combining theory and practice. This research aims to provide decision-makers with environmental knowledge for informed environmental transformation and adaptation strategies.
Axis 1: Societies, ecosystems: environmental forecasting and trajectories
The global erosion of biodiversity and ecosystems is a particularly important issue for our societies given our dependence on the many services provided by the biosphere: supply, regulation, support, culture.
Axis 2: Territories, organizations, and businesses: toward greener practices
Energy and ecological transition goals fuel, drive, and sometimes force socio-economic actors to transform their practices in their projects, organizations, and territorial commitments.
Axis 3: Teaching transitions
Today, all professions and sectors are affected by the challenges of ecological transition and the necessary transformation of current practices. These skills must therefore be included in the training of (future) professionals, whether in initial or continuing education.
Research projects
At ISIGE Mines Paris – PSL, research projects play a key role in exploring and implementing innovative solutions to environmental challenges. Conducted in collaboration with academic, industrial, and institutional partners, these projects address a wide range of topics such as energy transition, the circular economy, and territorial resilience. Thanks to a multidisciplinary approach, researchers develop knowledge and concrete tools to support ecological and societal change.
