English: “All they have in common is the English language” (E.M. Forster): English opens doors to the whole world, both at work and in everyday life, and allows you to experience the diversity of cultures in the Anglo-Saxon world.

German: the language of Kafka, H. Müller, Beethoven and Stockhausen; the most widely spoken language in the European Union, and the second language of science. Germany is the world’s third-largest contributor to research and awards research grants to international scientists.

Arabic: melting pot of Eastern cultures, key to understanding the contemporary world and official language of the UN.

Chinese: 好学近乎知: for you “that’s Chinese”?! Chinese is easier than Lagrange’s equations. Come and discover or deepen your knowledge of Chinese language and culture at Mines Paris – PSL !

Korean: “The first step is half the battle”. Behind its mysterious alphabet, the Korean language is far more accessible than you might imagine. It opens the door to 80 million speakers, a dynamic culture and a flourishing economy.

Spanish: the third most widely spoken language in the world, and as Vargas Llosa, the Nobel Prize winner for literature, put it, “you’ll discover the multicultural facets – Catalan, Basque, Galician, Quechua, Aymara… – of the Hispanic world”.

Hebrew: an ancient and modern language, the first example of a classical language restored as the living language of a global society and the idiom of their daily lives. Learning Hebrew holds great promise for connecting you to Israel’s professional and academic life.

Italian: is just like the Italians. They don’t respect the rules of grammar, they’re always looking for the beautiful. To learn Italian is to become a little Italian.

Japanese: If you’re looking for the exotic and want to get to know other people, Japan, through its language, is a country that challenges Western codes.

Portuguese: between 190 and 230 million people speak Portuguese worldwide. It is the fifth most widely spoken language on the planet: in Portugal, Africa (Mozambique, Angola, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, etc.), Asia (India, Macao) and Brazil.

Russian: “In days of doubt, in days of painful reflection on the fate of my country – you alone are my support, O great, powerful, truthful and free Russian language” (Ivan Tourgueniev).

Swedish: Swedish is a Scandinavian language spoken by around 10.4 million people, mainly in Sweden and Finland, the two countries where it is the official language. It is also spoken in parts of Estonia and northern Germany. In France, few people learn Swedish. Learning Swedish is much easier than it seems. Many Swedish companies are established in Europe, America and the rest of the world.

French as a Foreign Language: “Culture is not an end. Culture is food, among other things, a malleable richness that exists only through man. Man must use it to form himself, not to forget himself. (J.M.G. Le Clézio)

Langue des Signes Françaises (French Sign Language): born in the 18th century, today integrated into everyday life and practiced by between 169,000 and 200,000 people worldwide.
