Renaud Coulomb

Before joining Mines Paris – PSL, he served as a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Melbourne, following roles as a Research Officer at the London School of Economics (Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment) and at Ecole Centrale Paris. He holds a PhD and a master’s degree in economics from the Paris School of Economics, alongside a master’s degree in International Relations from Sciences-Po Paris, and a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay.
His research in environmental economics explores the impact of climate change mitigation on energy resource use and the valuation of energy firms and assets. Utilizing a question-driven approach, he employs applied microeconomics methods or theory, or a combination thereof, based on project requirements. His work is published in esteemed peer-reviewed economic journals such as the Journal of European Economic Association and the Journal of Public Economics. Furthermore, his research findings have received attention in various media outlets such as the Harvard Business Review Blog Network, Libération, Les Echos, Slate, Mediapart, and have been disseminated to think tanks, international organizations, and policymakers, including the OECD, I4CE, Bank of Thailand, and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission/AER.
